History of Meringue

Did you know that delicious desserts made with meringue have been around since the sixteenth century? Yes, early European cooks made a dish they called snow. They made it by beating egg whites and cream together and since many didn't have forks or whisks of any kind, they tied birch tree branches together for a whisk!

Anybody remember this album by good old Herb Alpert! I owned it once upon a time! I loved how all those brass instruments sounded!

  2. I never heard it, for some reason. But I do love meringue, and that picture sure makes it look... sensuous. Guess that was the point.
